Anyone recommend a mobile phone with a really good clear loudspeaker and doesn't interfere with speakers. For person with hearing aid.

    If I open my Nokia 9500 on the passenger seat of my car, the conversation is loud and clear both ways.

    Hmm, for the first part, I use my E61 in the car sitting on the dashboard with loudspeaker. Works well.

    For the second, when you say "doesn't interfere with speakers", I guess you mean hearing the "pock, pock, pock" interference.

    Unfortunately, thats not really going to happen, particularly when in GSM coverage.

    When in 3G coverage that should not happen.

    hope that helps...

    Thanks Guys, the n95 would be overkill in terms of he would have no interest in the extra features. Yes I mean the pock, pock interference Bernard. It interferes with the hearing aid. Some he has had have been better then others but of course they don't keep selling the old models.

    @alanorourke pock-pock-pock is tough to kill when using a mobile phone near any kind of digital cable. Normally you switch off phones to kill the popping sound associated with signal seek.

    I realise that. Hoping to find a model that is a little less popping then others. Of course the louder the loudspeaker the further away he can hold it

    @mneylon for some reason my spell checker keeps insisting you are a Cylon. This after doing a late night marathon of Galactica season 3.

    FWIW, I haven't found any relationship between SAR ratings and popping noises bleeding over to hearing aids, microphones, speaker systems. Some phone screens light up when next to my Dell D620 with BT and wifi running.

    @alan:

    Yes, I got you. Well regarding the interference with hearing aids, Nokia do (or did) make a "neckloop" (whats called an inductive loop-your friend would know what it is), http://tinyurl.com/2bzfky.

    You can't really remove the pock-pock-pock noise if you are near anything electrical as the phone needs to do updates/send other messages back to the network.

    I have asked some people in work for some suggestions on Nokia phones, maybe they can help.

    I'll let you know.

    @alan:

    Hah, I sent that too soon! I got the following links.

    Ok, the headset is: http://www.esyurl.com/46h

    and phones that work with it are: http://www.esyurl.com/46i

    So, your friend could get one of the loopsets and then one of those phones.

    He could wear the loopset around their neck. This then is connected to the telephone by the required cable.

    The loopset then "induces" the audio signal of the telephone call into his hearing aid.

    In this case he wouldn't be bothered with the pock-pock-pock noise as he won't hear it in his hearing aid.

    He might have one of those phones already and then doesn't have to buy a new phone, just the headset.

    Let me know how you/he gets on.
